Our philosophy is simple…
With the increasing complexity of the world, and the impact that has on companies, we believe that to gain better results simplicity is key.
Hence our name, Occam Insight. William of Occam was a renowned philosopher and theologian, born around 1284.
He was a passionate advocate of simple solutions. His principle: “entities must not be multiplied beyond what is necessary” became known as Occam’s Razor.
In marketing, it is perhaps more useful to use Einstein’s more modern version of the Razor:
“Make things as simple as possible, but no simpler.”
Delivering our philosophy
As a result of our philosophy, no matter what project we work on, we apply the same fundamentals. We always:
- Try to add genuine value – avoid ‘reportage’ at all costs, place a premium on analysis, always have a point of view about what the findings really mean
- Believe in approaching projects without any preconceptions: we are completely ‘methodology neutral’.
- Strive to understand the context in which our respondents view the issues being investigated in order fully to understand their reactions.
- Be innovative where appropriate. We are up to date with the latest tools and techniques – the skill is to use the right one at the right time – or invent something entirely new if necessary.
- Believe that, armed with a complete ‘tool kit’ of techniques, a guiding philosophy is more important than slavishly following pre-determined processes.
- Love difficult and challenging briefs because our Occam philosophy of simplicity allows us to provide innovative and creative solutions.
